main goal

NGO BY WOMEN FOR WOMEN WITH THEIR WELL BEING AT MIND & HEART

We are establishing a network where women can come together and continue to be the main contributors, a powerhouse that balances such roles by ensuring their wellbeing is cared for.

overview

what we intend to do

Gender stereotypes significantly impact all forms of well-being responses, leading to both underdiagnosis and overdiagnosis of various conditions among women. Therefore, we aim to enhance our research evidence by focusing more on women-based studies, especially covering all aspects of well-being, which include:

  1. Physical Health: Exploring gender-specific risks, preventive measures, and treatment for diseases more prevalent or unique to women, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, and osteoporosis.
  2. Mental Health: Investigating the psychological impact of gender roles, including stress and anxiety disorders that may arise from societal expectations and caregiving responsibilities.
  3. Economic Well-being: Studying the effects of economic independence on women’s health and the disparities in employment opportunities and pay that women face compared to men.
  4. Social Well-being: Assessing the role of social support networks in enhancing women’s health outcomes and examining the impact of isolation and loneliness, particularly in elderly women.
  5. Emotional Well-being: Understanding how emotional labor influences women’s mental health and developing strategies to support emotional resilience and coping mechanisms.
  6. Reproductive Health: Addressing issues related to fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause, and ensuring that women receive appropriate medical attention and support.
  7. Safety and Security: Analyzing the prevalence and impact of domestic violence and other forms of gender-based violence that affect women’s overall health and well-being.

By intensifying our focus on these specific aspects of well-being, we aim to develop a more comprehensive understanding of women’s health challenges and advocate for more informed, effective, and equitable health policies and practices. This will contribute to the eradication of gender bias in health care and promote better health outcomes for women across all stages of life.

STATISTICS

women workforce in malaysia

0 %
Percentage of women in workforce dropped in 2020

Despite modest gains, Malaysia’s female labor force participation significantly trails behind men’s, with women making up only 37.7% of total employment. While participation has increased from 37.2% in 1970 to 56.2% in 2023, it still lags behind the male rate of 82.3%. Women are frequently found in less secure jobs, such as part-time or temporary roles, and face higher unemployment rates and longer periods of joblessness compared to men. Additionally, despite a narrowing gender pay gap—from 8.9% in 2010 to 3.7% in 2022—wage disparities persist, particularly in fields like education and healthcare, where women are well-represented yet consistently earn less than their male counterparts. There is a clear need for further improvement in women’s workforce participation and employment conditions in Malaysia.
