Support Family B1: “Education is the key to opportunity and a ticket out of poverty”.

The best chance of escaping poverty is with a decent education. B1’s family is a refugee family residing in Setapak Garden; she is unemployed due to her refugee status, and her husband is a security guard. Her five children range in ages from six to twelve. B1’s husband is responsible for paying the family’s bills, but due to his refugee status, he continuously faces job uncertainty. With her husband’s job not being permanent and the rising living expenses, B1 had no option but to stop sending her kids to school (a private centre that assists refugee children -allowing a minimum fee of RM100 per child). She is now worried that her kids will become illiterate and hence unable to break free of the generational cycle of poverty and isolation, which is why she has reached out to HWSKLS for assistance.

Please consider paying for one child’s education directly to the educational center (write to HWSKLS, and we will provide the Centre details). Or volunteer to host an educational course with her children via zoom (they can manage that with the support rendered by HWSKLS) to meet her children’s academic requirements. A small action can have a profound effect on her children’s lives. Since the family is a refugee, they don’t have a personal bank account. Thus, HWSKLS is requesting you to transfer the funds with a label that indicates “FAMILY-B1” so we can provide such support to her in the coming months. Bank details are provided here.
