Anu Vaisanavy is currently a 4th-year medical student at Perdana University-Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She is expected to graduate in 2022 with the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Obstetrics degrees conferred by the National University of Ireland and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
She was the student representative for her class from 2017 to 2019. She actively participates in extra-curricular activities held in her university. Anu has been involved in the committees that organised P.E.T.S Project 2019 which aimed to spread awareness on animal adoption and the role of pets in helping those with mental health issues and Perdana University’s Inaugural Pongal event. She has also volunteered to help out in the Light of Love Run to raise awareness on mental health and the World Occupational Therapy Day Run held in 2018.
She has also worked alongside Dr Sangeeta, Dr Anne Jamaluddin, Dr Isriyanti, Prof Satvinder and Sonia Praveena on #MYINDIAN1COMMUNITYFAIR, a community project to spread awareness on early screening for risk behaviours contributing to non-communicable disease in the B40 Indian community in the Klang Valley area in 2019.
Currently, she is one of the marketing managers for P.E.T.S Club Perdana University, which organises fundraisers to help feed strays and spread awareness on animal adoption. She has organised one such fundraiser, The Furryclicks, along with her team last year in 2020. It was a photo challenge competition that raised funds to help out a woman who cared for strays.
Currently, she is the Youth Representative in HER Wellbeing Society. She is keen to work on women-specific issues and especially highlighting issues faced by young women.
